  • You will need to take a few minutes to describe yourself by detailing your experiences in the field(s) you want to teach. Whether you have tutored in the past or not, does not matter. Beginners are always welcome!
  • We strongly recommend adding a nice photo of yourself on your profile, perhaps one of you performing a lesson, skill or passion!

  • If you are looking for a flexible schedule, part time job, or wish to begin your own business, then tutoring is a great choice. It gives you the opportunity, during your free time, to make extra money by using your unique skillset to put them to the benefit of those who want to learn or need to hone their personal knowledge.
  • Of course, it’s the passion of sharing your wisdom that should remain the main motivation for you to become a teacher / tutor / mentor / coach, not money or experience.

  • The purpose of MyDaskalos is to introduce teachers, tutors, mentors or coaches to students. The only alternative of advertising the services of your company is to advertise your teachers, tutors, coaches, mentors by creating a profile for each one of them.
  • Example: If you are a fitness club who proposes the services of a fitness coach, a Pilates teacher or a kickboxing teacher, you will need to create three profiles: one for fitness coach, one for Pilates and one for kickboxing. Each teacher will have to fill his own profile.
  • You can propose to your students to take classes at your fitness clubs.
  • You can also propose different offers to your students and adapt your offers to their needs (first lesson free, one day course per week for a lower fee etc.).

  • It’s highly recommended to insure yourself. You may consider subscribing to a public liability insurance, business and portable equipment insurance and professional indemnity insurance.
  • You may also be aware of health and safety regulations, such as providing a safe environment for your students to learn if you plan to teach at your home.
  • It’s very important to advertise yourself honestly by not overselling your skills. Every claim you make must be real, which means that you should be able to provide documentary proof of any qualification you claim to hold.
  • It’s also very important to keep your income and taxes up to date and a legal requirement to declare your income. MyDaskalos is not responsible for any of your declarations and will not request any information on your revenue.

If your subject is not defined in one of our categories (sports/academia/hobbies/music/etc.) please contact us and we will add it as soon as possible.

  • For example, a professional violinist is obviously qualified to give violin lessons, but teaching involves much more than certification.
  • It requires passion; the desire to teach, endless patience and unlimited energy, as well as adaptability, positivity and openness.
  • A violin teacher does not necessarily have to be a concert violinist, but he/she must have good ideas on how to become one and how to master the instrument and the music.
  • If you are giving Russian lessons, you need to have mastered the language yourself by near perfection, be fluent or bilingual and able to explain the principle rules in writing, grammar and accent reduction. You may also be required to teach your students the basics of the culture and history of the countries where the language is spoken.

  • Here are a few helpful tips to make your profile more appealing and attractive to potential students, thus allowing them to find you without difficulty:
  • Tell your story by highlighting your strengths, skills and experiences related to the courses you propose
  • Explain what differentiates you from other teachers and what makes your private lessons exceptional (the way you teach for example, the percentage of success of your past students etc.)
  • Explain your learning style/technique and teaching methodology.
  • Expressing your human side is very important (charity experiences for example)
  • Mention your hobbies, groups you are part of, your travels, your past work experience and successes in life.
  • Focus on the benefits from learning with you: what are you providing to your future students?
  • Avoid technical terms that may be difficult to understand.
  • Avoid phrases that do not detail what services you will provide such as “I teach mathematics at all levels, anywhere and for all abilities“.
  • Mention the exact levels at which you teach as well as the exact topics (algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus, etc.)
  • Include a picture that makes you look professional. It’s important for your future students to know that you have nothing to hide and it’s even more important for them to recognize you when they meet you for their first lesson.
  • Avoid mistakes in your ad by reviewing it (with a text editor or by asking a friend to look at it before publishing it).
  • You can propose to offer your first lesson for free if you have not received any review from a student already. During the first meeting, teacher and student usually spent their time getting to know each other, to understand the aims and objectives of the lessons and agreeing on a teaching plan that works for everyone. For this reason, proposing your first lesson for free will make your potential student more confident in the seriousness of your work. Students will contact you more frequently; it is more engaging for them.
